Artist signed pottery plaque or plate. This is a fabulous mottled aqua plaque, dish, platter, that features two incised fish-like creatures on it. It has an incised mark on the back: R. Jones in script. This looks like studio pottery to me, e.g., Mission Style, California Studio Pottery, Pewabic, or Southwest. I surfed the net to try to find this potter and all I came across was one name: Rachel Buegleisen Jones of Grand Rapids, MI, and I did buy this in MI, so perhaps that is the artist. This is a heavy, beautifully made piece of pottery; the pics just do not capture how nice it really is. It is not glossy as the pictures show it, rather, it has a semi-matte finish with that soft, smooth feel to it like mission arts and crafts style pottery often has. It measures 9 long x 6 wide and has no chips or cracks. You could get a plate hanger and hang it on the wall! |
