Vintage Catalina Pottery vase and art deco flower frog. c.1937-1942. Low gloss white vase with blue backstamp: Catalina, Made in USA Pottery. No chips or cracks on the vase, and it is 9.5 long x 5.5 wide. This is mark #5 in the Collector's Ency. of CA pottery by J. Chipman, pg. 118, and dates to the above-mentioned time frame. You also get the art deco style flower insert; 'The Scarf Dancer', shown in the book on Flower Frogs by B. Bull. Not marked, but likely made in Germany. She is almost 6.5 tall x 4 wide and she has some flaws. The flower frog has a 1/4 inch tight hairline on base, and a glaze miss on her left areola; and a tiny 1/2 cm. hairline on top of the base. Nothing that is even visible from 12 inches away. I thought she looked great in this vase, so I put them together. Guaranteed to be authentic vintage Catalina Pottery! |
