Circa: 1836 Manufacturer: Royal Bonn
Antique Royal Bonn transferware cheesekeeper. Or butterkeeper. Being sold as collectible display items and not for food use since I did not make them, nor do I know if they have anything harmful in them. The underplate was not with this item when purchased; so I put a nice vintage Homer Laughlin plate under it that has the same coloring on the rim edge, and looks rather nice with this item. The castle mark dates to 1836-1920. The mark is a green castle; backward FAM mark inside castle, then Bonn, Germany. FAM stands for Franz Anton Mehlem. The cheesekeeper has a vent hole in lid; features gorgeous pastel Irises, and has no chips or cracks but is showing a lot of wear around bottom rim edge. Very beautiful despite not having the original underplate for it, but you do get the HLC plate with it. If it had the original underplate, the price on it would be much, much higher! |
