Vintage statuary head. At first look you might think this is terra cotta clay, but it is much heavier than ordinary terra cotta clay. When I tap my fingernail on it, it does not sound like terra cotta either, it sounds like statuary. It is quite hefty and stands 10.5 tall x 6.5 wide. One fleabite near bottom eyelid and 2 pinpops near backside; otherwise good condition, see pics. Not marked with any maker's marks; hollow inside. Just a really interesting piece of statuary and it looks fairly old. Roman goddess Vesta? 10/09esa# |
