Vintage WW2 trench shovel. My research indicates this is an AMES US WW2 shovel from around 1944. An identical one showed up on the net. It has rust but still works. The grooved metal ring can be adjusted so the shovel head folds down; and it can fold in a 45 degree angle to use as a hoe. This shovel is almost 28 inches long; green paint on wood handle. Shovel head is 6 inches wide. The markings may be under the rust or just worn off. 3/13brcs |
