Vintage Van Briggle flower vase. Photo #2 is the more accurate color on this vase; photo one was done with the flash on. Very striking vase with long stemmed flowers and roots. It is 5 inches tall; no chips; it does have a hairline on the bottom rim edge which is hard to spot unless picking it up and looking very closely at it. It has some vertical craze marks on the top rim edge that look like faint hairlines but nothing is felt so they are just craze lines. It has lots of all over crazing but the crazing is not that apparent unless looking at it closely, (see close up photo). The bottom is very worn and smooth and it has the incised VB logo. There is no other mark on it; I think it may have had a date mark at one time but it is long gone. This vase is shown in the VB book but the one in the book is brown and dates to the 1980's, but this vase appears to be much older and doesn't have the same mark as the 1980's vase. I'd guestimate the 1920's judging by the all over crazing, the age/wear on the bottom and the bottom clay is tan, not white as newer VB is. It is a very attractive old piece for your collection of art pottery or VB pottery! 10/16 |
